Morgan Stanley Tests Blockchain-Based Financial Infrastructure
Morgan Stanley has established an internal testing environment called The Digital Asset Lab to explore blockchain-based financial infrastructure and its potential applications in traditional banking.
The lab will examine how tokenized deposits, central bank digital currencies, money-market funds, and decentralized finance (DeFi) vaults interact with existing brokerage, asset-management, and wealth-management systems.
Megan Brewer Koptchev, who leads the unit, stated that the research will cover various topics, including whether software can execute investment strategies around the clock, beyond conventional market hours.
The lab is a part of Morgan Stanley's existing network of innovation labs and provides a controlled environment for teams to build prototypes, connect external technologies, and test new market infrastructure before production deployment.
