Morpho Brings Stock-Backed Loans to Base
Morpho has launched stock-backed loans on Base, allowing users to borrow against tokenized Coinbase stocks. This means that users can now use their tokenized shares of Nvidia (NVDAc), Meta (METAc), Apple (AAPLc), or Alphabet (GOOGLc) as collateral to unlock liquidity without selling.
The service, which went live on September 18, supports both variable and fixed lending rates. Independent curators manage market parameters and compliance controls, while Morpho provides the underlying protocol infrastructure.
Morpho's relationship with Coinbase on Base is not new, as the two first partnered in January 2025 to debut Bitcoin-backed USDC loans on the network. However, this latest launch excludes US persons and users in other restricted jurisdictions due to compliance requirements.
