Moscow Exchange Prepares Crypto Depository for Investors
The Moscow Exchange is planning to launch a crypto depository for investors, allowing them to store and manage their digital assets without independently managing wallet keys.
The new infrastructure will be separate from the trading platform itself and not part of the National Settlement Depository. It's designed to provide more flexibility for market participants, who can choose between integrating with the Moscow Exchange infrastructure or using their own depositories.
The parameters of the future system are still being discussed, but it's expected that several liquidity centers will be created on the side of the Moscow Exchange and within large banking and financial groups. Some brokers may work through the Moscow Exchange's depository infrastructure, while others can develop their own solutions for storing and accounting crypto assets.
The launch of the Moscow Exchange digital depository is expected at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027. It could become one of the central parts of Russia's legal cryptocurrency infrastructure, providing a clear link between assets and client accounts while maintaining security through technology and process organization.
