MSCI Exclusion Plan Sparks Congressional Probe

The Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) has requested that Congress investigate MSCI's decision to exclude corporate digital asset treasury firms Strategy and Metaplanet from its indices. The index provider also placed Sharplink on a delisting watchlist, sparking regulatory scrutiny of index providers.

MSCI had revived a proposal to remove these companies from its indices, which has raised concerns about the impact on corporate crypto treasury adoption and investor access via indices.

The BPI argues that this move could hinder the growth of the crypto market and increase downside risk to sentiment and adoption. The index provider's decision has been met with criticism from the BPI, which sees it as an attempt to limit access to digital assets for investors.
