MSCI Weighs Rules That Could Remove Saylor's Strategy From Indexes
Michael Saylor's Strategy Inc. has received some relief from the recent rebound in Bitcoin. However, an old threat from index provider MSCI is resurfacing and could potentially add new strain to the company's financing model.
MSCI is considering rules that would exclude companies it deems are no longer worthy of being included in its global equity indexes. This proposal would affect Strategy, which has over $60 billion in Bitcoin purchases financed through securities issued to investors.
The concern is that MSCI's decision could lead to a decline in the value of these securities and add pressure on Saylor to seek more capital to continue buying Bitcoin. This could result in shareholder dilution and potentially harm the performance of the securities issued.
