$MSTR Maintains STRC Dividend Rate at 12%, Focusing on Price Stability
Strategy ($MSTR), the Bitcoin treasury company led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has decided to maintain its annual dividend rate on Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC) at 12% for August. This decision comes despite shares trading at a notable discount to their $100 par value.
STRC was introduced in July 2025 with an initial 9% rate, but has seen multiple upward adjustments over its first year as Strategy sought to support trading near par. The company aims to have STRC trade steadily in the $99-$100 zone over time.
The decision not to increase the dividend rate further is part of a broader strategy to refine the model for digital credit as an asset class, with the aim of achieving stable demand, high liquidity, and low volatility near par value. CEO Phong Le has reiterated that the company will consider multiple factors when making rate decisions, including trading levels, market yields, Bitcoin price and volatility, reserve coverage, and overall capital structure.
Strategy has been active in supporting STRC through a $1 billion repurchase program for digital credit securities, having already bought back a portion of shares at a discount. The company's USD reserve dedicated to covering preferred dividends and interest obligations provides a buffer that reduces reliance on immediate Bitcoin sales or new equity issuance.
