Multicoin Taps Lucas to Bolster Crypto Founder Investments

Multicoin Capital has welcomed a new member to its investment team. Lucas, a crypto media professional who previously worked with Pods Media and Bankless, announced on X that he had joined Multicoin to invest in crypto founders. The hire marks exactly nine years since the firm was founded.

The addition of Lucas comes at a time when Multicoin is undergoing some significant changes. Co-founder Kyle Samani moved into an advisory role in February, and in March, Spencer Applebaum and Shayon Sengupta were promoted to General Partner and Co-Head of Venture. This move handed the venture practice to new leaders.

Multicoin's third venture fund, a $422 million vehicle raised in January 2022, serves as the anchor for its venture business. The firm also runs strategies focused on tokens and public markets alongside the venture side.
