Multicoin's $21.7M HYPE Transfer Raises Sell-Side Pressure Concerns
Hyperliquid (HYPE) has seen a significant transfer to Coinbase Prime, sparking concerns about potential sell-side pressure. Over the past 12 hours, Multicoin Capital deposited approximately $21.7 million worth of HYPE to the exchange's prime infrastructure.
The transfers took place in three batches, totaling 261,555 HYPE, and occurred while HYPE was trading near its recent highs at around $82.93. This timing has raised questions about whether Multicoin is preparing to sell a large amount of the asset.
However, it's essential to note that these transfers do not necessarily indicate an executed market sale. Coinbase Prime can support over-the-counter (OTC), settlement, and institutional custody services, which may explain the move.
The increase in potential sell-side liquidity due to the Multicoin transfer is noteworthy, especially considering HYPE's technical structure. As buyers face resistance around $84-$87, the asset has repeatedly produced upper wicks, failing to sustain its rally.
