MultiversX Mainnet Exploited by Atomicity Issues, Network Paused

MultiversX, an interoperability-focused blockchain platform, has confirmed that its mainnet was exploited due to atomicity issues at the virtual machine level. This allowed attackers to create invalid state changes on-chain.

The network has been paused while the engineering team works on a remediation plan, which is currently being tested in a shadow fork environment.

MultiversX aims to preserve confirmed transaction history and legitimate user states, while correcting only the invalid changes tied to the incident. However, the project did not disclose how long this process may take or when normal operations can resume.
