MultiversX Restarts After Five-Day Halt, But Kraken Still Blocks New EGLD Trades
MultiversX, a blockchain network, has resumed normal activity after a five-day halt caused by an exploit-related issue. On September 24th, the technical account @CodeMultiversX announced that a recovery upgrade had been deployed, allowing block production to resume and network activity to continue as usual.
The official gateway returned a Sept. 24 block timestamp, indicating that the network was reporting new blocks. However, Kraken's $EGLD notice told a different story for its customers. The exchange still showed cancel-only trading and paused deposits and withdrawals on September 24th, with no resolution notice.
MultiversX had initially announced an attempt to exploit a virtual-machine atomicity issue on Sept. 19, which led to invalid state changes and a pause in network progression. Engineering completed recovery checks before the all-clear was given.
The distinction between the network's restart and exchange access matters for users deciding which service is available now. The network statement addresses on-chain activity, while Kraken's notice governs trading restrictions and funding routes handled by the exchange.
