Ripple's Stablecoin RLUSD Tops $2 Billion in Market Capitalization
Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD has reached a market capitalization of $2 billion in less than two years since its launch. According to Jack McDonald, Ripple's senior vice president in charge of stablecoins, more than $1 billion of RLUSD has been issued on the XRP Ledger alone.
The milestone is significant because it shows the growing demand for dollar-based settlement methods in tokenized finance markets. Ripple plans to use RLUSD as a dollar-based settlement asset for tokenized asset trading in the future.
Ripple is expanding RLUSD's use cases, including its use in payments and settlements, corporate lending, and financial services in emerging markets. The company has also partnered with Clearpool and Cicada Credit to build an XRP Ledger-based lending service that will utilize RLUSD for loans to fintech companies, payment firms, and other businesses.
