Muneeb Ali's Return Boosts Stacks Price as Institutional Bitcoin Staking Round Approaches
Stacks Labs' co-founder Muneeb Ali has returned to an operating leadership role as CEO, replacing interim CEO Alex Miller. This move comes ahead of the next institutional Bitcoin staking round, which is set to begin on October 10. The Genesis Bond, which launched on September 10, has already seen significant participation from institutions, with 21Shares, HashKey Cloud, UTXO Management, and Sypher Capital all involved. The Genesis Bond has already bonded approximately 230 $BTC alongside 310,000 $STX, receiving 0.28 $BTC in weekly rewards by September 24.
The Stacks price has surged 28% following Ali's return, with the token currently trading around $0.36. The next bonding period is set to open on October 10 with 500 $BTC of capacity, more than twice the Genesis Bond's 230 $BTC. Around 10% of the capacity is reserved for pools, while institutional participants can use the self-custodial route. Anchorage Digital is also building custody infrastructure for institutional Bitcoin staking, allowing eligible clients to keep their $BTC within Anchorage's custody while participating in the Stacks program.
With Ali's return and the next institutional Bitcoin staking round approaching, the Stacks price is now at a critical resistance zone near $0.40. If the token can break through this zone, it could potentially open up the $0.45 and $0.50 regions. However, if the price moves back below $0.34-$0.35, it could weaken the current structure and expose the $0.30-$0.32 area.
Ali has identified increasing Bitcoin capital on Stacks and expanding institutional adoption as priorities, alongside network capacity, privacy, and security upgrades. The Genesis Bond has already seen significant participation from institutions, and the next bonding period is expected to be even more successful.
