Elon Musk reiterated his stance that Bitcoin's value is derived from energy consumption rather than government backing. The Tesla CEO made this assertion during an interview with Indian entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath, stating that 'energy is the true currency.' This view echoes a statement he made in October, where he noted that governments cannot 'fake' Bitcoin like they can with fiat currencies.

Musk emphasized the physical aspect of energy consumption required for Bitcoin mining, highlighting its substantial electricity needs to power computers solving cryptographic puzzles. He argued that energy is difficult to manufacture or harness through legislation, making it a fundamental currency.

The interview also touched on Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which he described as an ongoing project. He addressed recent speculation about the initiative's status and confirmed that DOGE continues to function, with its website listing approximately $214 billion in savings.
