Nadex Registers with SEC for Stock Futures, Names Proposed Stocks
Crypto.com's North American Derivatives Exchange (Nadex) has filed a notice registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), marking a significant step towards offering stock futures in the US. The Form 1-N was submitted on September 14, with an effective date of the same day.
Nadex operates under the name Crypto.com Derivatives North America and is based in Chicago. It has been a designated contract market under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) since 2004. The SEC registration adds oversight specific to security futures, which are subject to joint regulation by the CFTC and SEC.
The filing lists 10 proposed reference securities for cash-settled futures contracts, including Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia. While the registration allows Nadex to trade these products, it does not approve any specific contract yet. The exchange will need to submit separate listing standards and terms before trading can begin.
