Nas' Early Coinbase Investment Pays Off with Estimated $40 Million Windfall

Share

Rapper Nas has been in the news for his music career, but he's also made waves in the tech world. In 2013, his venture capital firm QueensBridge Venture Partners invested in Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange company, as part of its $25 million Series B funding round. At the time, Coinbase was valued at around $150 million.

The investment was one of many made by QueensBridge, which had been founded by Nas just that year and went on to invest in over 100 companies across various sectors. However, the Coinbase investment stood out due to its enormous growth potential.

When Coinbase began trading publicly in April 2021, its shares reached $415 shortly after trading began. This put the estimated value of QueensBridge's stake at between $41.2 million and $206 million, with Forbes estimating it was worth at least $40 million.
