Nasdaq Expands Trading Hours, Raises Concerns Over Crypto Liquidity
Nasdaq has introduced a new 23-hour trading framework approved by the SEC on April 10, 2026. The Night Session will run from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. ET and overlap with India's National Stock Exchange (NSE) hours by 5h 15m in winter and 4h 15m in Daylight Saving Time (DST). This means that NSE equity derivatives will trade until 3:40 p.m., extending the time for Indian investors to react to U.S. market moves.
The new framework has been met with some concerns, as Nasdaq found overnight retail spreads near 3x regular levels and price impact near 6x. This could pose a liquidity and market-impact risk for Bitcoin and broader crypto adoption.
