Nasdaq Unveils 23-Hour Trading Schedule, Narrowing Gap with Crypto Markets
Nasdaq has announced plans to extend its trading hours to 23 hours a day, starting from December. The new Night Session will run from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., with existing pre-market, regular, and post-market sessions continuing as usual.
The move aims to provide broader access to the market while preserving current U.S. market protections. This is in response to investor expectations for continuous markets, particularly in the wake of the growing popularity of digital-asset venues that operate 24/7.
Nasdaq will retain a daily maintenance break and existing regular session, ensuring continuity with traditional exchange hours. The new Night Session is expected to narrow the operating-hours gap between equities and continuously traded crypto markets.
