Nawrocki's Third Veto Blocks Poland Crypto Bill, Leaving Framework Uncertain
Poland's crypto regulation bill has hit another roadblock after President Karol Nawrocki vetoed it for the third time. Despite a vote of 241 to 198 in favor of overriding the veto, lawmakers fell short of the required three-fifths majority of at least 266 votes.
Nawrocki claims that the bill imposes too much burden on cryptocurrency businesses and may drive them offshore due to stringent rules. He also expressed concerns that only one out of 16 amendments suggested by his office was taken into account in the latest legislative round.
The bill aimed to put Poland's cryptocurrency market under KNF jurisdiction and help the country implement the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation from the European Union. The President is now advocating for a different bill that focuses on fraud and financial crime protection measures.
