$NEAR Co-Founder Warns of AI-Driver Cyberattack on Web3 Developer
A sophisticated cyberattack began with AI-driven recommendations and targeted a Web3 developer's device.
The attackers exploited a vulnerability by using a method known as 'context poisoning' warned against by $NEAR ($1.88 · Live) co-founder Illia Polosukhin.
Even after the operating system was reinstalled, the backdoor malware persisted due to a malicious addition to the SKILL.md file.
This incident highlights the need for closer scrutiny of AI-driven files in .md and .json formats, which may contain executable code.
