NEAR ETF Launch May Not Be the Bullish Catalyst Investors Expect
On September 29, Bitwise launched the United States' first NEAR Spot ETF (Ticker: NRR) on NYSE Arca, prompting a surge in nerves across the cryptocurrency market. NEAR's price skyrocketed nearly threefold in just a month, from $1.6 to $5.4.
This led many investors to believe that the launch of the ETF marked a bullish catalyst for massive entry by traditional institutional capital. However, according to Gemini and TechFlow, this is not entirely accurate.
The fund's terms reveal that it charges an annual management fee of 0.75%, investing in on-chain staking to secure approximately 5% annualized returns. The remaining two-thirds of the staking rewards are factored back into the fund's NAV. This structure works logically, but the timing gap is a crucial factor.
The nearly threefold surge has already exhausted the market's positive expectations regarding regulatory approval and initial listing. Until Bitwise discloses scaled and sustainable daily net subscription data, NRR remains an admission ticket displayed behind glass. Excessive leverage and overcrowded position structures will easily face cold profit-taking sell-offs if OTC buying pressure fails to materialize.
