NEAR Intents Gives Hacker 48-Hour Ultimatum After $3.8M Security Breach
NEAR Intents has identified the individual behind a recent security breach that resulted in the loss of $3.8 million in user funds on Thursday.
The protocol's general manager, Alex Shevchenko, gave the hacker a 48-hour ultimatum to return the funds under 'responsible disclosure', stating that after this period, the window for responsible disclosure would close.
The security breach occurred when a bug in the Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure interaction with NEAR Intents' smart contract was detected on Thursday. Preliminary investigations found that $3.8 million in user funds were stolen.
NEAR Intents has pledged to compensate affected users in full, but it's unclear whether this will happen if the hacker doesn't return the funds within the given timeframe.
