Near Intents Recovered $3.8 Million After Publicly Naming Hacker
Near Intents has recovered all $3.8 million stolen in an exploit on Thursday after the team publicly identified the attacker and gave them a 48-hour ultimatum.
The cross-chain swap service halted its operations on Thursday due to a bug in its Omni deposit and withdrawal layer, which interacted with its main smart contract and allowed the attacker to siphon funds.
Near Intents General Manager Alex Shevchenko posted Bitcoin, BNB/Ethereum, and Solana addresses for returning the funds and directly addressed the attacker, saying 'We have identified you, sir.'
The return of the stolen funds was facilitated by an on-chain message from the exploiter, who expressed remorse and thanked Near Intents for being cordial during the process.
