A recent exploit on cross-chain trading and settlement protocol NEAR Intents resulted in the loss of approximately $3.87 million USDT from its treasury contract on BNB Chain.

The attack occurred between September 30 and October 1, with multiple withdrawals spread over the two days.

NEAR Intents' SHIELD AI security layer flagged the activity, prompting the protocol to pause its services and patch the vulnerability within an hour.

General Manager Alex Shevchenko issued a 48-hour deadline for the funds to be returned, providing specific return addresses across BTC, EVM, and Solana. The suspected entity reportedly returned the full $3.8 million, and NEAR Intents closed its investigation on October 4.
