NEAR Price Surges 135% in 30 Days Testing Key Resistance
NEAR Protocol's native token, NEAR, has surged an impressive 135% over the past 30 days, reaching a price of around $5.16. This rally has brought the token back to a critical resistance zone between $5.50 and $6.20, an area that has previously proven challenging for buyers to overcome.
The rapid ascent has pushed the weekly Relative Strength Index (RSI) near 75, indicating strong momentum but also suggesting that the token may be overbought. Meanwhile, NEAR futures open interest stands near $1.63 billion, signaling elevated leveraged activity across exchanges. Analyst Rekt Capital noted that NEAR is retesting its former macro downtrend as support after breaking higher, a positive sign for continued upward momentum.
NEAR's price now faces its toughest test around the $5.50, $6.20 resistance zone. A clean daily close above $5.50 would confirm a bullish breakout, with the next target potentially extending toward $6.20. Analyst Giannis Andreou highlighted that reclaiming and holding this area would strengthen the bullish setup, with potential resistance targets at $8 and $12. However, a weekly close below $3.80 would weaken the bullish outlook.
On the downside, $4.70 remains a key support level, with a deeper pullback potentially bringing the $4.00, $4.30 zone into play. The weekly chart shows that NEAR has spent much of 2026 below $2.50 before accelerating through higher levels, and holding above the former breakout area is crucial for maintaining the current uptrend.
Additionally, a proposal to cut NEAR's annual issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% through the House of Stake is set for a vote this week. This reduction, if approved, could impact the token's supply dynamics and potentially influence its price in the long term.
