Near Protocol Struggles to Break $5.60 Resistance
Near Protocol (NEAR) is facing a critical technical juncture following its strong September rally. Currently trading around $5.29, the token has encountered repeated resistance in the $5.40, $5.60 range, forming a potential triple-top structure. This pattern could put pressure on the psychologically significant $5 level.
The triple-top pattern emerged after a substantial rally from approximately $1.60 in August. NEAR surged past $2.50 in mid-September and doubled within two weeks. However, the upward momentum has stalled near the $5.40, $5.60 zone, with three consecutive attempts to break higher failing.
Confirmation of a triple top would require NEAR to break below the structure's support rather than just failing at resistance. The immediate support level to watch is $5.00, with more significant support at $4.70, $4.80. A daily close beneath $4.70 could signal a broader reversal.
Momentum indicators also suggest caution. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) reached overbought territory during the September surge but has since declined, indicating a loss of upward momentum. Despite this, NEAR remains above all major moving averages, with the shortest average around $4.25. A decisive close above $5.60 would invalidate the triple-top thesis and could push the price toward $6.00.
