NEAR Protocol Votes on Issuance Reduction Proposal

The NEAR Protocol has put an issuance reduction proposal before a House of Stake vote. The plan will decrease the maximum issuance rate from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months, maintaining the current 90/10 split between stakers and the protocol.

If passed, around 66 million tokens will not be minted, tightening supply relative to the current emission schedule. This trade-off comes with a decrease in staking yield from approximately 5.4% to about 3.4%. Holders face a direct scarcity-versus-return decision.
