NEAR Unveils Unified Liquidity Layer Across Global DeFi Networks
NEAR Protocol has unveiled NEAR Intents, an initiative aimed at unifying liquidity across global decentralized finance (DeFi) networks. The project seeks to simplify cross-chain activity by connecting liquidity across blockchain networks.
The current landscape of DeFi liquidity is fragmented, with separate pools existing on various platforms, including decentralized exchanges and bridges. This can lead to inefficient routing and create fragmented markets. NEAR Intents aims to address this issue by introducing a shared execution layer that connects these separate pools.
The system uses an intent-based architecture, where users define the outcome they want, such as exchanging one asset for another across different chains. Independent market participants, called solvers, then compete to complete that request. This model reduces the need for users to manage bridges, routes, or several transaction steps themselves.
NEAR says this approach can improve price discovery while making cross-chain activity easier to manage. The infrastructure handles the transaction process, allowing users to focus on the requested outcome rather than every technical step. Chain abstraction forms another central part of NEAR Intents, enabling users to interact with assets across networks such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The ZCash integration extends this usability into payments, allowing users to transact through Cash App and PayPal. This expands available payment options while linking cross-chain infrastructure with widely used platforms.
