Network School Relocates from Malaysia to Kazakhstan Amid Regulatory Scrutiny

Balaji Srinivasan's experimental education commune, Network School, has relocated to Kazakhstan after being shut down in Malaysia. The former Coinbase CTO's program was built around digital nomadism and startup culture, operating on a 'Learn, Burn, Earn, Fun' model with daily bounties and skill-building sessions.

The Network School had been running out of Forest City in Johor, Malaysia, just across the strait from Singapore. However, Malaysian authorities revoked the business license on July 21, 2026, forcing operations to cease the following day.

Srinivasan quickly signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, which spans five years and includes provisions for hackathons, conferences, and innovation programs. This move provides a longer runway than the Network School ever had in Malaysia.
