Neutrl's NUSD, a yield stablecoin, has been at the center of controversy after its minting and redemptions were frozen on August 13. According to reports, the freeze came just minutes after a large Curve liquidity withdrawal worth approximately $3.5 million from NUSD's USDC pool.

The timing of this event has raised questions about who knew what before the market was informed about the halt in minting and redemptions. Neutrl initially cited 'reserves affected' and legal counsel as reasons for the pause, but did not provide further details or disclose any potential losses.

On-chain researchers have pointed out that NUSD's TVL (total value locked) has been shrinking since February, when it stood at around $226 million. BA Labs, in a risk assessment, identified counterparty, operational, and liquidity risks associated with Neutrl's protocol.
