Newsom Slams Trump's 'Sick' White House Access Sell-Off
California Governor Gavin Newsom has accused President Donald Trump of selling access to the White House after the announcement of an upcoming gala dinner for holders of Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) memecoin. The event, scheduled for November 22 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C., will feature a speech by Trump alongside three unnamed 'legends'.
The top 185 memecoin holders have been invited to the dinner, with VIP access limited to the top 29. Newsom, who recently signed legislation barring California public officials from issuing meme coins, called Trump's actions 'SICK' and accused him of selling White House access.
Historically, announcements like this one have triggered a surge in TRUMP followed by a sharp sell-off once the event ends. The memecoin has already seen a significant decline since its launch, collapsing 97% to $581 million as of this writing, with nearly 1 million people losing money on it.
Trump, however, is expected to profit from the event, having taken in $635 million in royalties from the memecoin last year. TRUMP's price has dropped 4.9% in the last 24 hours to $2.06.
