NFLX Bears Out as Wells Fargo Downgrades to Underweight
NFLX tokenized stock is sitting at $71.23 on Binance, but its technical structure is crumbling. Wells Fargo analyst Steven Cahall recently downgraded Netflix to Underweight from Equal Weight with a $57 price target, citing weakening engagement and the absence of breakout content as major concerns.
The technical indicators are aligning with this bearish view. NFLX is currently below all its major moving averages, including its 7-day SMA ($71.81), 20-day SMA ($74.58), 50-day SMA ($77.39), EMA 12 ($72.84), and EMA 26 ($74.75). The MACD line and signal line have converged at -1.91 with a zero histogram, indicating no bullish divergence is forming.
The Bollinger Band picture also suggests near-term risk is high. NFLX is pressing against the lower band at $68.94, which is within a single bad session from current levels. Immediate support sits at $71.01 with strong support at $70.79, but these are coin-flip propositions given the execution flow picture.
Cahall's engagement concern is not just a soft critique of Netflix's content quality. It's a fundamental issue that will linger unless the company delivers genuine must-watch content to justify its premium multiple. With no offsetting bullish analyst revision and the absence of a competing high-conviction bull call, Wall Street's smart money seems to be avoiding this stock.
