Nigel Farage's Reform UK Party Rakes in £20m from Crypto Investors

Share

Nigel Farage's Reform UK party has received £20 million in donations from cryptocurrency investors since the general election. The majority of the funding, around 60%, comes from wealthy individuals associated with the digital currency.

The largest donor was Christopher Harborne, a crypto billionaire who gave £15 million to the party. Additionally, his separate donation of £5 million directly to Mr. Farage is under parliamentary probe.

Other notable donors include Ben Peter Delo, founder of BitMex, and Maria Rost, wife of US crypto investor John Rost, who collectively donated millions of pounds to the party.

Experts have raised concerns about the influence of large donations on politics. Labour MP Stella Creasy wants an amendment to cap donations from individuals, saying it's essential to prevent 'a small number of disproportionately loud voices determining outcomes'.
