Nigeria OKs Blockchain-Based Shares for Capital-Market Growth

Share

Nigeria has taken a significant step towards boosting its capital-market growth by approving the use of blockchain-based versions of traditional shares.

The Securities and Exchange Commission gave its approval for the rollout, allowing firms to offer so-called tokenized assets through NASD OTC Securities Exchange, the nation's over-the-counter bourse.

NASD plans to offer this option early next month after receiving the green light from the commission. The company is a venue for alternative investments.
