Nigeria's Crypto Market Sees Record Growth with Over $92 Billion in Transactions
Nigeria's cryptocurrency market has seen significant growth in recent years, with the country accounting for more than $92.1 billion of the over $205 billion in on-chain crypto value received by Sub-Saharan Africa between July 2024 and June 2025.
This represents a 52% increase from the previous year, according to Chainalysis. Nigeria ranked sixth globally in the 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index, with cryptocurrency usage extending beyond speculation to everyday financial activities such as preserving value, making payments, receiving money from abroad, and moving funds across borders.
The use of stablecoins like USDT and USDC has become increasingly popular for these transactions, while Bitcoin remains the dominant cryptocurrency purchased with naira. However, users often face difficulties in finding competitive exchange rates due to varying rates, transaction limits, reserves, and processing conditions across different exchange providers.
