No-KYC Crypto Exchanges: A Guide to Trading Without Verification
A no-KYC crypto exchange is a service that allows you to trade one cryptocurrency for another without submitting identity documents. The strongest versions have no account system at all, so there's no stage at which identity can be requested. You send one coin, and you receive another, with the transaction tracked by an order ID rather than a profile.
There are three categories of no-KYC exchanges: accountless instant swap services, decentralized exchanges, and peer-to-peer marketplaces. Each has its own characteristics, costs, and failure modes. For example, accountless instant swap services quote a rate, give you a one-time deposit address, and send the output coin to your wallet.
Decentralized exchanges execute trades through smart contracts, with you keeping custody throughout. However, they only work within one chain or bridge ecosystem, so both assets must exist there. Peer-to-peer marketplaces trade directly between users, with the platform holding an escrow.
The label 'no-KYC' is used for two structurally different things: threshold-based and structural. Threshold-based platforms have accounts and ask for documents above a volume or withdrawal limit, while structural platforms have no account system at all.
