Noble's Demise Puts $92M of USDC on Deadline as Cosmos Shifts to Injective
Noble, an appchain that serves as the canonical issuance point for Circle's USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin, is being phased out by its issuer. This move puts approximately $92 million of USDC on a four-month clock, with exchanges and decentralized-finance protocols required to shift their integrations away from Noble before January.
Noble currently holds about $102.2 million in stablecoins, with more than 90% being USDC. Circle will stop minting new USDC on Noble through Circle Mint on October 13, while redemptions remain available until January 12, 2027.
Cosmos Labs has coordinated a replacement route through Injective, where Circle already issues native USDC. Users can migrate their Noble-based USDC into Injective-issued USDC starting September 11, with the first migration flow supporting several Cosmos-linked chains.
This transition marks a test of whether Cosmos can move its stablecoin distribution system without fragmenting liquidity across incompatible assets and routes. The role of Noble as a primary liquidity layer for more than 50 blockchains will now migrate to Injective.
