Nordea Brings Bitcoin ETP to European Markets by Year-End
Nordea, a Nordic bank, is set to launch a Bitcoin-linked exchange-traded product (ETP) on its platforms by December 2025. This move marks a shift in the bank's stance on digital assets, following years of monitoring cryptocurrency trends and regulatory uncertainty.
The synthetic ETP, manufactured by CoinShares International Limited, will track Bitcoin as its underlying asset. Nordea emphasized its open-minded approach to meeting customer needs as the regulatory environment matures.
The implementation of the EU's MiCa regulation in December 2024 created a comprehensive legal framework that increased investor protection across the bloc. This development has led to broader institutional acceptance of crypto-linked investment products in Europe, with the ETP market expanding rapidly among both institutional and retail investors.
