North Korea-Linked Hackers Push Crypto Heists Above $1 Billion
Chainalysis has linked a $387 million hack of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget to North Korea. The firm says this theft pushes North Korean-linked crypto heists above $1 billion in 2023, not 2026 as previously stated.
The company analyzed onchain records and found that some of the stolen XRP was swapped through THORChain.
This is a significant development, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by state-sponsored actors in the crypto space. The fact that North Korea-linked heists have exceeded $1 billion underscores the need for increased security measures and cooperation among exchanges, regulators, and law enforcement agencies.
