North Korea Suspected in Bitget's $352M Security Breach
Bitget's CEO Gracy Chen has confirmed that the exchange is investigating a $352 million security breach, and preliminary findings suggest North Korean hackers may be responsible. According to Chen, investigators have identified IP addresses associated with VPN services used by a DPRK-linked group.
The breach occurred on Thursday, and Bitget believes it was carried out by external attackers rather than an insider. The hackers transferred funds directly from the exchange's hot and warm wallets without forging user withdrawal requests or obtaining private keys for cold storage.
Chen stated that some of the stolen funds have been recovered, but did not provide a specific amount. Bitget is working with blockchain foundations and partners on recovery efforts.
