North Korean Hackers Drive Half of Global Crypto Theft in First Six Months
North Korean cybercriminals stole over half of all cryptocurrency lost worldwide in the first six months of this year, according to a new report.
The U.S.-Israeli blockchain security firm Blockaid found that North Korea-linked actors were responsible for $609 million in losses between January and June, accounting for about 55% of the approximately $1.1 billion lost in verified cryptocurrency exploits.
The activity was attributed to TraderTraitor, a cryptocurrency-focused subgroup of North Korea's Lazarus cybercrime gang.
