North Korean hackers have been linked to the $387 million Bitget hack, which has pushed the total crypto stolen by DPRK actors this year above $1 billion, according to Chainalysis.

The firm reported that the attackers used a cross-chain swap to convert the stolen XRP into Bitcoin and kept the tokens away from exchanges.

This is the third major hack this year tied to North Korea, following the $285 million drained from Drift Protocol on April 1 and the $292 million taken through a KelpDAO bridge exploit on April 18.

Chainalysis noted that faster tracing is becoming essential due to the increasing use of sophisticated automation by North Korea to move and obscure stolen funds.
