NSW Man Charged with Crypto-Linked Child Abuse Offences
A 29-year-old man from New South Wales has been charged with using cryptocurrency to purchase child abuse material. The arrest was made by the Cybercrime Squad as part of Strike Force Angle, an ongoing investigation into the use of cryptocurrency for illicit activities.
The suspect, Jamie Bell, was arrested at a home in North Albury after detectives executed a search warrant on Wednesday morning. Electronic devices, drugs, and other items were seized for forensic examination.
Bell appeared in court via video link and his lawyer applied for bail, citing the accused's mental health conditions, including schizophrenia and ADHD. However, the judge refused the application, stating that Bell posed a 'dangerous threat to the community' due to the severity of the alleged crimes.
