The AI semiconductor market is creating an unprecedented valuation split between Nvidia and AMD. Nvidia's market capitalization sits at $5 trillion to $5.4 trillion, while AMD hovers around $800 billion to $900 billion.

The multiple investors are willing to pay for each dollar of future earnings also differs significantly, with Nvidia trading at 20-32x forward earnings and AMD commanding forward P/E ratios that often exceed 60x.

Nvidia controls approximately 75-87% of the AI accelerator market by revenue, while AMD captures somewhere between 5-10%. Nvidia's Q2 FY2027 data center revenue reached $89 billion, representing annual growth exceeding 100%, and its gross margins sit at roughly 74%.

AMD has been making moves to justify its stock surge of over 100% year-to-date, including launching its Helios racks as part of a broader push to scale up its AI infrastructure offerings. It also raised its 2030 total addressable market estimate for AI accelerators to $1.4 trillion.
