Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has stated that human-level artificial intelligence (AI) has arrived. He made this claim on Sunday, citing OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra as an example of AI capable of handling intellectual work at a human level.

This is not the first time Huang has expressed his views on AI. Four days earlier, he was less certain about the achievement of artificial general intelligence (AGI), saying 'In fact, I would argue that we're practically there today... It either means a lot or it doesn't mean anything.'

The concept of AGI is still a topic of debate among experts. OpenAI's Microsoft deal, which was once tied to the achievement of AGI, no longer requires verification from an independent expert panel. The companies rewrote their agreement in April, and payments will continue through 2030 regardless of technological progress.

Cognitive scientist Gary Marcus remains unconvinced about the claim that human-level AI has arrived. 'Of course I fully expect that AGI will be achieved someday. But everything said before then is a premature declaration.'
