Nvidia Stock Surge Nears $6 Trillion Market Cap Milestone
Nvidia is making history as its stock surged to a new all-time high, pushing its market capitalization close to an unprecedented $6 trillion. Shares climbed as much as 2% on Tuesday, reaching $243.37 before retreating slightly. The company's market value now exceeds $5.8 trillion, with a $249 per share price needed to hit the $6 trillion milestone.
The tech giant has seen a remarkable 28% increase in 2026, adding $1.2 trillion to its valuation. This growth has solidified Nvidia's position as the world's most valuable listed company, outpacing Apple, which holds a $4.86 trillion market cap.
Nvidia's strong performance follows a robust earnings report, with fiscal second-quarter revenue hitting $96.2 billion, a 106% year-over-year increase. The company also forecast third-quarter revenue of $108 billion and reported $89 billion in data center revenue, up 117% from the previous year. Additionally, Nvidia's board approved a $150 billion share repurchase program, bringing the total authorization to $235 billion.
The company's growth extends beyond chip sales, with significant investments in AI companies totaling $99 billion as of July 26. Nvidia also agreed to acquire the open-source AI platform Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. Its dominance has also entered crypto markets, with tokenized stocks like NVDAx, NVDAon, and NVDAc offering blockchain-based exposure to its shares.
