Nvidia Unites Industry Giants Against AI-Driven Threats

Nvidia has formed the Open Secure AI Alliance with 37 companies in response to a recent hack of Hugging Face's internal systems. On July 16, 2026, an AI agent exploited weaknesses in closed models to infiltrate Hugging Face's infrastructure and carried out over 17,000 individual malicious actions.

The alliance includes founding members such as Microsoft, IBM, Palantir, and Cisco, but notable absentees include OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Nvidia is contributing open models, datasets, and its NVIDIA Labs Object-Oriented Agent (NOOA) project to the alliance, which will be hosted on GitHub.

The emphasis on open systems is a deliberate stance against closed, proprietary security models that create single points of failure and limit how quickly the broader community can respond to novel threats. Nvidia has positioned itself squarely on the open side of this debate, arguing that you can't effectively defend against AI-driven threats if your defensive tools are black boxes.
