NYC Property Database Sparks Crypto Execs' Security Fears
A searchable database of New York City's public property records has raised concerns among cryptocurrency executives, who warn that it increases security risks for wealthy residents.
The database, built from the city's annual assessment rolls and supplemental market value data, is publicly available through the city's Open Data portal.
Critics argue that while the records were already public, aggregating them into a searchable tool makes identifying owners of expensive properties easier and potentially puts them at risk.
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams called it 'the worst mass doxxing I've ever seen,' saying nearly every unit in some luxury apartment buildings was listed, including primary residences of people he knows.
