NYLIM Bridges Traditional Finance with Onchain Liquidity
New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM) is attempting to bridge the divide between traditional finance and onchain protocols. The asset manager, which oversees $838 billion in assets under management, has integrated RedStone Settle into its tokenized US High Yield Bond Fund (HYB). This allows for T+0 exits, meaning holders can access their capital instantly.
The HYB fund operates on a T+3 settlement cycle, but this creates a structural hard stop for DeFi composability. A three-day wait for redemption renders the asset effectively inert as collateral. RedStone Settle's Dutch auction mechanism provides instant stablecoin liquidity in USDC, allowing holders to exit their positions instantly and facilitating T+0 liquidations for DeFi collateral.
The integration is a pragmatic attempt to reconcile traditional settlement cycles with the high-velocity demands of decentralized liquidity protocols. The system relies heavily on the participation of solvers, who must maintain a bonded deposit that is subject to slashing if they fail to supply the promised capital.
