NYSE and Blockchain.com Team Up for 24/7 Tokenized US Stocks Trading
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Blockchain.com are collaborating on a platform that will enable 24/7 trading of tokenized US stocks and ETFs. The project relies on NYSE's planned digital alternative trading system, which will allow users to access tokenized securities around the clock.
Regulatory approvals are crucial for the project's progress, as the SEC has issued an 'Innovation Exemption' allowing certain trading venues to offer tokenized versions of publicly traded US stocks. The exemption runs for five years and comes with conditions, including that token holders must retain the same rights as traditional shareholders.
The partnership is seen as a positive signal for Ethereum, which will likely be used as the underlying blockchain infrastructure for the platform. However, the market's response is measured, with current pricing implying that Ethereum reaching $10,000 by the end of 2026 remains a relatively low-probability outcome.
