NYSE and Blockchain.com Team Up for Tokenised Stocks
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Blockchain.com are teaming up to explore tokenised versions of US-listed stocks. This collaboration will allow them to test the sale of tokens representing securities listed on the NYSE using blockchain technology.
The partnership marks another step towards mainstream adoption of blockchain-based securities, as traditional financial markets accelerate efforts to adopt tokenisation. Tokenisation involves creating digital tokens on a blockchain that represent or are linked to traditional assets like shares and bonds.
The NYSE and Blockchain.com will also share market data as part of the collaboration. The companies have agreed to exchange data, with the NYSE distributing Blockchain.com's cryptocurrency market data and analytics, while Blockchain.com will incorporate NYSE data into its application.
